TV on the Internet
TV critic Todd VanDerWerff and TV watcher Libby Hill take on the week in television, classic TV and some of the biggest debates in TV past and present.

Todd and Libby drop in on this fine Christmas evening to share with you a couple of tales of the season, including Todd reading from the short stories of Bret Harte and Libby reading from Laura Ingalls Wilder's The Long Winter. Thanks for listening in 2011, and we can't wait to keep talking TV with you in 2012.

Todd and Libby went away, but they're back now, and they've gotten VERY BAD AT PODCASTING. Expect frequent pauses to look at kittens, lots of awkward stuttering, and some actual TV discussion in between all of that, including segments in which Libby tells everyone who didn't like the Homeland finale that they're bad and wrong. Also: American Horror Story, Parks & Recreation, Community, Up All Night, changing distribution models for television, 2 Broke Girls, and why Breaking Bad season four was terrible.

Todd and Libby are back with the first part of a two-part podcast, and they're surrounded by cats! They're also answering 10 of your questions, handpicked by Libby, including thoughts that will almost certainly offend those of you who like Republicans, Dexter, and other terrible things. (Ha ha!) Also, a lot of theorizing about New Girl and some laughs.

Todd and Libby have been away, but they return to tell you of their travels. This mostly just means they saw the Breaking Bad finale a while back and didn't want to spoil it for you. But that means this episode is filled with talk of the show's fourth season, with lots and lots of discussion of what happened and what WILL happen. Before that, though, we've got plenty of talk about the season's new comedies, including Libby's strange theories about one of her new favorites, Todd's thoughts on why New Girl will eventually(?) get irritating, and some discussion of the wonders of Raising Hope. Who's that Todd? IT'S TODD!

TV on the Internet, Episode 71: It's Cooler If You Stick An 8 In It Somewhere

Guess what, America? The Emmys are tonight, and that means Erik and Ted have dropped by to tell us just what to expect (hint: disappointment). At the same time, Todd and Libby realize they've been gone too long and share their thoughts on the latest seasons of Breaking Bad and Louie, before talking a bit about the new shows that debuted last week and a few that debut this week. It's a grand old time for everyone!

TV on the Internet, Episode 70: It Doesn't Take Rachel McAdams Getting Hit By A Bus For People To Realize They Like Each Other

Todd and Libby invite some guests over because apparently that's the only way they can ever record podcasts anymore. Joining them this week are Alyssa Rosenberg of Think Progress and the Atlantic and Myles McNutt of Cultural Learnings and The A.V. Club. Included in the discussion are the surprise shows of the summer, whether Aaron Sorkin has made the Obama presidency seem more disappointing, just what's up with Unforgettable, and the unrelenting racist overtones of True Blood. Enjoy!

TV on the Internet, Episode 69: Divorce, TVOTI Style

After Todd spent three weeks at Comic-Con and TCA press tour, Todd and Libby are finally together again and recording podcasts. Included this week, discussion of ABC Family's new show The Lying Game, plus cable's three new fall drama pilots, Hell On Wheels, American Horror Story, and Homeland. It's all capped off with discussion of the strange identity of Caspar Babypants, a look into Libby's side-gig, and a very uncomfortable segment about knife-fighting and celebrity crushes.

TV on the Internet, Episode 68: Hey, TVOTI, Welcome To The '60s

Todd and Libby take a magical voyage back to a time when the world was filled with optimism, hope, social change, and hippies, as they return to the 1960s with NBC's new fall show The Playboy Club and ABC's new fall show Pan Am. (They like one much more than the other.) They also discuss the Emmy nominations several days late, agreeing that they're pretty good, as these things go. And in the centerpiece, the thing you came to hear, they talk about how they liked the first three episodes of the fourth season of Breaking Bad. (Perhaps unsurprisingly, they enjoyed them very much.)

TV on the Internet, Episode 67: Emmy Justice

It's time for the annual Emmy nominations prediction podcast, and Todd is joined by Erik Anderson of Awards Prophets and Big Ted of For Your Speculation, as he always is. Topics include just why the Emmys might fall hard for Hot In Cleveland, Ted's belief in the strength of Justified, and Erik tries to keep everyone's hopes in check. Libby, meanwhile, is off doing something else, though she's dismayed to learn more about what Todd's been doing with his time. And make sure to keep your ears peeled for a very special guest star.

TV on the Internet, Episode 66: Being In Separate Cities Makes Us Sleepy

Libby's in Detroit, either taking photos of unexpectedly gorgeous architectural ruins or babysitting. It's not immediately clear which. Todd is still in California and slowly falling apart. But they didn't forget about you, and they didn't foget to get on Skype and talk about a bunch of stuff, including fielding 20 of your questions. Included in this podcast are thoughts on three new sitcoms starring hipster girls, Todd's complete lack of knowledge on the Casey Anthony trial, and Libby's feelings on her hidden past as a youth rodeo champion. All that plus songs!
